Children and their 'noses'

Posted by kirsty morrison on

We have a lot of local children in and out of our workshop and I'm amazed at how they have the tastes and 'nose' of an adult. Is it silly that I think they would want candy floss or Mars Bar aromas? The boys from age 4 hone in on cedarwood, clove and herbal notes like rosemary. The girls fall for head over heels for florals like geranium and ylang ylang. Both love patchouli. I'd love to learn more about why different sexes like different essential oils. I'll be asking the Pure and Applied Department of Chemistry we're working with at Strathclyde University what they know about this. Fascinating!
